Felicia Brown, LMBT has been a licensed massage therapist and business owner since 1994. With more than a decade of experience in the spa industry, she has seen first-hand all of the highs and lows of growing and managing a business from scratch. After two years in practice, Felicia began her own business, Balance Inc, which grew from her individual massage practice and staff of one into Balance Day Spa, a full-service day spa and a staff of more than fifty.
In 2005, after several moves and expansions...and with revenues of more than $1.6 million dollars a year...Felicia successfully sold the spa and began Spalutions! In addition to working with spas in the US and abroad, she continues to see a very limited massage clientele. Felicia has also recently released her first CD, Just Breathe: Guided Meditations for Inner Peace.
Felicia has been an instructor for the Professional Massage Therapy Training Program at Guilford Technical Community College in High Point, NC, and has written numerous professional articles for various publications including Spa Management Journal, Dermascope, Massage and Bodywork, Massage Magazine, and Massage Therapy Journal. She is also a regular reviewer for Health Positive!, Lippincott and MiladySalonovations and is currently serving on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Massage Therapy Journal. Felicia is also a licensed Commercial Real Estate Broker.
Felicia has gained tremendous respect locally and in the massage and spa industries for her business knowledge and acumen. She has been recognized in numerous publications and has won many awards including 2003 40 Leaders Under Forty (Triad Business Journal), 2004 Women In Business Award (Triad Business Journal), 2005 Small Business Person of the Year (Greensboro Chamber of Commerce), 2007 Volunteer of the Year (American Massage Therapy Associaiton) and 2008 Movers and Shakers of the Triad (Triad Business Leader Magazine). Most recently she was recognized as the 2009 Spa Person of the Year by the Day Spa Association and one of the 2009 Top Entrepreneurs by Business Leader Magazine.
Felicia believes deeply in cooperative competition and the idea that there is enough (business, clients, abundance, wealth, etc) to go around for all of us. She also believes that by helping others succeed by learning from our own successes and mistakes, we will all be rewarded in kind many times over.

Smart Marketing with Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, etc

Whether you are in the beginning of growing a client based business or several years into starting one, this class will teach students how to use social media and the internet to fill their appointment books to the brim.
SmartMarketing will also benefit students by exploring their goals for marketing and help them to create a simple marketing plan. Students will be able to: Create a professional profile on Facebook, Linked-In and/or Twitter; Schedule and promote an event through social media; Join massage related interest groups on these sites and network with potential clients and/or professional contacts; Explain the steps needed to create a simple marketing plan

Integrating the Spa Experience into Your Massage Practice
2 CE Contact Hours
Whether you are in the beginning of growing a massage or spa-related business or several years into starting one, this class will give massage therapists some new options and ideas for creating or integrating "the spa experience" into their practices. Using an "add-on" approach, students will observe several easy spa treatments to benefit their clients that include dry brushing, a body polish, hand or foot treatment and a body wrap. Students will also learn how to WOW clients by adding small touches to their sessions without a huge budget. We'll also discuss how to avoid common pitfalls and mistakes when selecting treatments, equipment or product lines
