Unique Aspects of Whiplash Syndrome
16 CE Contact Hours
This 16-hour course will focus on acceleration-deceleration injuries, commonly referred to as 'whiplash syndrome'. Our discussions include complex conditions that prevail in post-whiplash patients: internal thoracic soft tissue damage, shoulder injuries, seat belt injuries, TMJ incidents, torsion patterns, hip and knee injuries, and brain tissue insults. Powerpoint presentations include the structures that are at greatest risk, trigger point formation in post-whiplash syndrome, fractures and surgeries.
Demonstrations include NMT soft tissue protocols for the posterior cervical region, posterior thorax and back. Experienced NMT practitioners will also benefit from this information-packed course.
Supplies needed for class: A multimedia presentation will review the anatomy and pertinent details of the dynamics of potential injuries. However, each practitioner is invited to bring supplies that support adult learning, including paper and pen for notes and anatomy book(s) for reference, if desired. Audio tape recording is permitted if tape recorder is battery operated. Video tape recording is not permitted due to copyright implications of Powerpoint slides.
Massage tables and draping will be needed as well as some type of oil or lotion for lubrication. We suggest clothing that is easily removed to the hips.
