Directions to Berea College



The College is located near the center of the city, where Kentucky's Bluegrass Region meets the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains. Easily accessible, Berea is located 42 miles south of Lexington, Ky., just off Interstate 75.

The driving time from Louisville, KY, Knoxville, TN, or Cincinnati, OH is slightly more than two hours.

To arrive at Berea College via I-75:

1. Take exit 77 and
2. Proceed East on Ky. 595
3. Continue on 595 for approximately two miles to the intersection/traffic light at 595 and Ellipse Street; A "Berea College" stone sign will be on your right across the intersection.
4. Continue on 595 to the appropriate College location.

Berea College, founded in 1855, began when the area around it was only a village. As the College grew, the town grew and, in 1890, the community was incorporated.

The City of Berea has a current population of some 10,000, and, in 1988, was designated the "Arts and Crafts Capital of Kentucky." The designation has its roots at the College, which long has been known for its tradition of producing and preserving the handcrafts of Southern Appalachia.

The closest airport is Bluegrass Airport in Lexington, KY, 37 miles away. It is served by most major airlines and has rental car services on site. There is no shuttle service from the airport to Berea.
