Whitney Lowe
2011 Massage Therapy Hall of Fame Inductee


Lowe is an educational entrepreneur who stays at the forefront of massage education. His primary goal is the success of massage professionals and to move the profession forward into new possibilities. His emphasis on research-based education and effective, outcome-based training has given Lowe a highly respected reputation. Lowe encourages the integration of new research and publication in soft-tissue therapy both in the clinic and in education so that therapists have the greatest chance of reaching their maximum potential.

Lowe's career spans two decades and includes extensive clinical work, research, publication, presentation, and teaching. He is a premier authority in Orthopedic Massage and is widely known for his expertise in assessment techniques and soft-tissue treatment approaches for musculoskeletal conditions. He is a well-regarded presenter at state, national, and international conventions, as well as a provider of continuing education seminars both hands-on and online. He is the author of the well-respected texts, Orthopedic Assessment for Massage Therapy and Orthopedic Massage: Theory and Technique, used by schools, educators, and individuals. He is also well-known for writing the first massage-oriented research newsletter for over 10 years.

His system of Orthopedic Massage is designed for massage therapists seeking to meet the needs of clients with chronic pain or sports, recreational, or occupational pain and injury conditions. His courses demonstrate his dedication to research-based approaches. Whitney is a frequently featured author in Massage Magazine, Massage Today, Massage & Bodywork and other journals and books, and he is on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. His educational offerings include: online & hands-on courses, DVDs, and books.
