Lynn Wind and Peter Wind
2011 Massage Therapy Hall of Fame Inductees

Lynn graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH) in 1978 with a diploma in Massage Therapy and received licensure in the same year. From 1979 to 1988, Lynn served as the Clinical Director and Head Instructor at CCMH, teaching hundreds of students who are now all over the world.

During her time in Canada, Lynn developed the Integrative Medical Massage System of Therapy, a unique approach incorporating a variety of specialized soft-tissue techniques, joint, myofascial and cranial mobilizations, aromatherapy, trigger point therapy, physiatrics, assessment, and rehabilitation exercises into a integrative package which has developed into the core of the school's curriculum. During this time, Lynn was also heavily involved in the upgrading of Canada's Massage Therapist Licensing policies.

Lynn has also written comprehensive manuals that are unduplicated in the wealth of knowledge of massage therapy. They are currently used in class for each of the quarterly Treatment Courses and are currently in the process of being published. Founded in Kona on the Big Island of Hawai’i, in 1984, the Hawaiian Islands School of Massage began as a 100 hour pre-apprenticeship training program. Lynn and Peter Wind acquired the school in 1988 and brought to Hawaii their vision of a comprehensive, holistic and scientifically oriented massage training program that contained the essence of 15 years of their Canadian medical massage teaching and studies. In 1989, the Winds aided the State of Hawaii's Board of Massage’s recognition of the need of higher standards and stricter guidelines of massage education requirements and massage industry regulations.
