Beloved son of Synergy Massage & Wellness Center founders Margie and Craig Schaeffer who passed from complications of diabetes and leukemia.
This fund will assist professional massage therapist(s) who are in attendance to selected professional massage conferences with books, continuing education, equipment, supplies or child care expenses while studying massage therapy/bodywork for continuing education.
It will be awarded annually at selected massage conferences based on:
- Completion of a written description of a palliative care massage/bodywork experience that demonstrates the improvement of the quality of life for a client(s) diagnosed with pathological condition(s) that are life threatening or chronic
- Proof of a state professional massage licensure, registration, or certificate
- Proof of NCTMB certification or successful FSTMB Exam completion for states without government regulation

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a professional massage therapist attending and taking classes at
the 2012 World Massage Festival who demonstrates they have improved the quality of
life of a client(s) diagnosed with a pathological condition(s) that are life threatening or chronic. It is a cash award that will be in the form of a check from the Foundation. Margie & Craig will be bringing a certificate of the award and the check with the winner's name on it. The winner must submit receipts to the Foundation for Enhancing Communiites for proof of expenditure for what they claimed to use the funds for on the application.

3rd ANNUAL CHARLOTTE HOOTEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCED
The World Massage Festival and Massage Therapy Hall of Fame announces the second annual Charlotte Hooten Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded during the Hall of Fame Ceremonies at the 2011 Festival.

In honor of Charlotte and her commitment to volunteerism, the massage profession and the WMF, we are awarding a fully funded package for the 2012 Festival. The award includes workshop registration, & per diem of $75 (for 3 days), for the 2012 World Massage Festival.
The winner will be randomly selected from those registered for this year's Festival at 12:30 pm in the vending hall.
There are no other requirements for the winner. It is our wish, and one that we believe Charlotte's big heart would share, that this scholarship will simply make life a little easier for one therapist.
It is our hope that the winner of the Charlotte Hooten Scholarship will joyfully attend the 2012 Festival and celebrate Charlotte's life. For more information about Charlotte, click here. |

Full Scholarship for Canine Massage Level 1 - Correspondence Course
- This is a full Certificate course, Value $1,150.00
- NCBTMB Approved Provider #451073-09 - 100 hours awarded upon successful completion
- Register for this in person at the Festival only, at the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage booth
- Canine Massage Level 1, Therapeutic Massage curriculum: Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology, Strokes and techniques, pre and post massage considerations, specific conditions, pathologies, and a full business lesson on marketing your business. Also included is Animal Behavior, introduction to Essential Oils and Nutrition. Lessons are completed independently and submitted via mail, with the final live practical exam submitted by Videotape. Includes DVD and full manual and lessons, which are downloaded via our On Demand format.
To register for the drawing for the scholarship, sign up at the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage booth in the Exhibit Hall. The drawing will be done during lunch on Sunday in the Campus Dining Hall.

BONNIE PRUDDEN MEMORIAL AWARD
Bonnie Prudden, fitness pioneer and founder of Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy®, passed away at her home in Tucson on December 11, 2011. She was 97. "You can't turn back the clock, but you can wind it up again," she told her students and patients, and that is how she lived her life.
Bonnie was the first person inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame. In her honor, each year we will pick one name from all the therapists registered and attending the World Massage Festival. That person will never again pay a registration fee to attend the Festival.
She honored us by attending the very first Festival in 2006 and giving the keynote speech. In celebration of her life, we give this scholarship.
