The Spirit of Esalen Massage: Connecting Technique, Science, and Intuitive Flow

4 Credit Hours

Esalen® Massage, developed at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA, during the mid 1960’s, was at the forefront of massage as we know it. With it’s beautiful full body techniques, deeply nurturing and relaxing effect, Esalen massage can resemble a well orchestrated dance.

In this 4-hour course you will be introduced the foundational philosophy of Esalen massage, as well as its history, influences, and the science behind the power of the techniques.

This class will consist of experiential awareness exercises, a lecture on the philosophy, history and science behind Esalen massage, and a demonstration of a full Esalen massage. By the end of this course you will have an understanding of the basic elements of Esalen massage from which to build on. These techniques can be easily applied to any massage practice, or used alone. This class is appropriate for beginners or experienced massage therapists wanting an understanding of Esalen massage and ways to integrate this approach into what you are already doing.

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME, COLOGNE OR ESSENTIAL OILS TO CLASS.
