24 Credit Hours
This class will offer the authentic and traditional foundational understanding of Hawaiian Healing upon which all other lomi classes will build. It follows in the lineage of Aunty Margaret's Big Island style, which was intended to instill a level of skill necessary for proper assessment, palpation and treatment of injury. Many of Kumu Brenda's Elder teachers' and ancestral wisdom will be shared as well.
The class will include lecture, ("Talk Story") of Hawaii's rich culture, history, philosophy, chant, the importance of the "HA' breath, meditation and the healing power ho'oponopono, a process of "making things right." Lomilomi massage techniques that address the whole person; the spiritual, mental, physical and emotional bodies, will be demonstrated and practiced by participants, using both table and floor techniques.
