It is time for Massage Therapists and Professional Bodywork Artists to feel good about what they do and have a platform from which to showcase their talents… now they can, in the form of the World Massage Festival, to be held annually at sites to be determined.

The 2007 Festival will take place Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Hadji Shriner's Temple in Pensacola, Florida. The idea was developed a couple of years ago when Florida Governor Jeb Bush asked for the promotion of massage in the state. Mike Hinkle, owner of Pensacola Massage Center and Curator for the Festival dreamed up the idea and set the mission statement into action.

• A job fair for those considering massage therapy as a profession.
• A showcase for the community at large to see various types of massage therapy. There will be a timeline and explanation of massage from 3000 BC to present. Models will be chosen from the public to work with the therapists showcasing their talents.
• The first 50 general admissions each day will get a card for a free one-hour massage at Pensacola Massage Center on Mobile Hwy. in Pensacola.
• Education for therapists - CE Workshops will be available.
• An introduction of the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame^TM honoring the inventors and instructors of various types of massage.
• An opportunity to network with and learn from other therapists, massage business suppliers, schools and professional associations.

The location has classroom space, vendor space and a stage to honor the new inductees.

The Hall of Fame has been created to honor those having furthered the profession of massage therapy.

WILL THERE BE CONTINUING EDUCATION WORKSHOPS OFFERED DURING THE FESTIVAL?

DO I HAVE TO BE A THERAPIST TO ATTEND THE WORKSHOPS?

Yes. Members of the public may attend any of the free classes, visit the vendor areas and attend the opening/closing ceremonies but they can not attend the paid workshops.
