The Educated Heart: Ethics, Roles & Boundaries for Massage Therapists

3 CE Hours

Class description:

Setting your boundaries with clients in a gentle but firm way is necessary for creating financial stability, and safeguarding your own mental health as well as your income. Educating clients about our own expectations with compassion, humanity, and even the use of humor is actually showing them a kindness. In this class we'll condense tricky issues like confidentiality, sexual attraction, dual relationships, fee-setting and other policies into simple, understandable terms. Ethics classes tend to focus on the boundaries of the client, and while we'll discuss those as well, the focus of this class is on the little-examined issue of maintaining our own boundaries for the highest good of the therapeutic relationship. This class is interactive; feel free to bring your own ethical dilemmas to the table for peer review.

Intake Protocols & SOAP Charting for Medical Massage
3 CE Hours

Class description:

Therapists who want to cultivate physician referrals, and who desire to bill insurance have to step up their game on keeping good notes. While people who are self-insured may not have insurance included in their plan, many employers are now opting to include it as a benefit, and there is also opportunity with personal injury and Medpay for motor vehicle accidents. The VA is testing massage as an option in some of their medical facilities as well. You can't slide along with inferior protocols if you want to participate. Excellent intake protocols and charting is a hallmark of a professional member of the healthcare team. I successfully billed insurance in my clinic for over a decade.

So, You Want to be a Teacher
4 CE Hours

Class description:

Being a good massage therapist and being a good teacher are two very different things. If you've been considering teaching, consider the options: entry-level instructor, CE provider, online instructor, and/or community educator. You'll learn the pros and cons of each of these, what you need to know in order to teach, as well as getting valuable tips contributed by numerous long-standing and experienced massage teachers from all over the world. This informative class can help you make up your mind about which direction you need to take, and you'll find out how to go about getting the approval you need, preparing your class materials, and marketing yourself as an instructor.

Using Research to Market Your Massage Therapy Practice
3 CE Hours

Class description:

Many therapists are intimidated by the word "research." For some, that conjures up visions of past nightmares writing term papers in high school and college, trying to learn elementary statistics, looking for references that are appropriate and current enough. Many people don't know the difference in valid research and website hype. In this class, we'll focus on several ways that you can use research as a marketing tool to increase your business. In addition, the handouts will include numerous research sources you can go to that will help you find research that will fit your situation.

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME, COLOGNE OR ESSENTIAL OILS TO CLASS.
