Releasing the Pelvis

8 CE Hours

Class description:

Massage and specific treatment points have been used for centuries to speed up labor, address the discomforts associated with birth, and provide a natural remedy to help the laboring mother relax and gain greater control of her birth. This hands-on class will use a multitude of massage modalities to free the pelvis of musculoskeletal restrictions that may prevent fetal engagement, slow labor, and cause pain. Among the techniques are traditional Swedish massage, myofascial release, muscle energy technique, trigger point release, strain/counterstrain and other appropriate modalities. These techniques will be explained, demonstrated, and practiced in class. Participants will be amazed at the ease with which these hand-saving techniques work and how easily they can be adapted to a variety of birth positions. Integral to this class is learning proper body mechanics for the care provider.

Supplies need for class: Please bring your table, two pillows, lubrication, one flat sheet, and a large bath towel or rebozo (shawl). Wear comfortable clothing.

PLEASE DO NOT WEAR PERFUME, COLOGNE OR ESSENTIAL OILS TO CLASS.
